HANARE
日本の四国地方に位置する、香川県仲多度郡。
穏やかな瀬戸内海を臨み、四国の山々に挟まれた地域にあり、JR四国の発祥の地としても有名なところである。
HANAREは、この地域にある歯科医院の別棟として計画を進めた。
建物は、3階建て。1階は駐車場、2階は診療所、3階は事務所である。
近くにある川が、大雨時に氾濫し、かなりの高さまで浸水した過去があり、1階を鉄筋コンクリートで作り、診療所をより高い位置に計画した。
日本の地方都市において、車は生活に必要不可欠である。その結果、人々を迎え入れる側は駐車スペースの確保が重要な課題となる。
将来的に、隣接する既存の医院の敷地と一体化し、広く駐車場を使うことができるよう計画した。1階をピロティ状とし、敷地で最大限駐車スペースを確保できるよう検討した。
診療室、事務所について、不安定な自然光を制限するために、できるだけ窓を小さく、少なくしたいという要望があった。
その中で、山や海の景色を取り入れるために、患者さんやスタッフなどさまざまな人が利用する共用部の階段室に大開口を設けた。
階段から見る景色は、いつも見ている景色とは少し違うだろう。
階段を上下階に移動するためだけの場所ではなく、人々や外と繋がれる場所に計画できたと思う。
また、2階の診療室は、診察に来た患者さんが安心できるように、木をたくさん使ったデザインとした。
建物を建てるということは、さまざまな制限を乗り越えることである。
その制限を踏まえた上で、その場所の良さを再発見し、引き出せる建物であるべきだ。

HANARE
Nakatado-gun, Kagawa Prefecture, is located in the Shikoku region of Japan.
It is located in a region overlooking the calm Seto Inland Sea, nestled between the mountains of Shikoku, and is famous as the birthplace of JR Shikoku.
HANARE was planned as an annex to a dental clinic in this area.
The three-story building consists of a parking lot on the first floor, a clinic on the second floor, and offices on the third floor.
The first floor is made of reinforced concrete, and the clinic is located at a higher level because the nearby river has flooded during heavy rains in the past.
In Japan’s regional cities, cars are essential for daily life. As a result, securing parking space is an important issue for those welcoming people.
The first floor was designed as a pilotis to maximize the parking space on the site.
For the clinic and offices, the client requested as few and as small windows as possible to limit the unstable natural light.
In order to incorporate views of the mountains and the sea, we created a large opening in the stairwell of the common area, which is used by various people, including patients and staff.
The view from the staircase would be slightly different from the view one normally sees.
We believe we were able to plan the staircase not only as a place to move up and down floors, but also as a place to connect with people and the outside.
In addition, the second-floor examination room was designed with a lot of wood to make patients feel at ease when they come to see the doctor.
Building a building means overcoming various restrictions.
The building should be able to rediscover and bring out the best of the place in light of these limitations.
